WHAT ARE THE MSCA 2015 – COFUND AWARDS ?

In line with the theme of the 2015 conference in Luxembourg, specifically dedicated to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND Action, these Awards have identified the three best researchers funded so far under the MSCA COFUND scheme, amongst the most promising scientists nominated by their host institutions. The FNR had asked co-funded fellowship schemes in Europe to nominate their best fellow whom to be eligible had to have been funded by one of the European Commission’s MSCA COFUND Schemes for a research project carried out between 2008 and mid-2015.

WHAT WERE THE CRITERIAS FOR THE SELECTION OF THE NOMINEES?

Based on the list of around 30 pre-selected fellows which represented highly competitive grant schemes, which had successfully supported more than thousand researchers during that period, the three finalists were selected during an expert panel meeting in Luxembourg using the following selection criterias:

  • The CV and track record of the COFUND fellow
  • The outcome of the COFUND fellowship and its relevance for the fellow’s career
  • The arguments by the host institution to recommend the fellow for the award.

WHO SELECTED THEM?

An expert panel was composed by three renowned scientists:

  • Professor Rudi Balling, Director of the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine
  • Professor Susanne Siebentritt, TDK Europe Professor and Head of the Laboratory for Photovoltaics at the University of Luxembourg and
  • Professor Claudine Moulin, Director of the Centre for Digital Humanities at the University of Trier.
